What is VAERS?

VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) is a national early warning system established in 1990 to detect possible safety problems with vaccines. It's co-managed by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

VAERS accepts and analyzes reports of adverse events (possible side effects) after a person has received a vaccination.

Is this data HIPAA compliant?

Yes, absolutely. All VAERS data displayed here is:

  • Publicly available - Published by the CDC/FDA on their official website

My vaccine lot number matches one with deaths/serious events - should I be worried?

Important context:

  • VAERS reports do NOT prove causation - A report means an event occurred after vaccination, but doesn't mean the vaccine caused it
  • Anyone can report - Reports are not verified for medical accuracy before being published
  • Coincidences happen - When millions of people get vaccinated, some will experience unrelated medical events afterward
  • Large lot numbers - Popular vaccines may have hundreds of thousands of doses from one lot number
  • More vaccinations = more reports - Lots used widely will naturally have more reports

What to do:

  • Don't panic - VAERS data requires expert analysis to interpret
  • Talk to your doctor if you have concerns

Can I trust VAERS data?

VAERS is valuable but has limitations:

Strengths:

Bottom line: VAERS is an important tool for safety monitoring, but individual reports should not be used as proof that a vaccine caused harm.

What are "adverse events"?

An adverse event is any undesirable health occurrence that happens after vaccination, including:

  • Common reactions: Sore arm, mild fever, fatigue (usually expected)
  • Serious events: Hospitalization, disability, life-threatening illness, death
  • Coincidental events: Medical conditions that would have occurred anyway

Important: An adverse event doesn't mean the vaccine caused it - only that it occurred after vaccination. Many reported events are coincidental or unrelated.

Why are some lot numbers listed multiple times?

This is normal and expected! A person may receive multiple doses of the same vaccine from the same lot number:

  • COVID vaccines require 2-3 doses
  • HPV, Hepatitis B, and other vaccines have multi-dose schedules
  • Each dose is recorded as a separate entry

Example: Person receives Pfizer COVID dose 1 (lot ABC123) and dose 2 (lot ABC123) - lot ABC123 appears twice in their report.

How often is this data updated?

The CDC/FDA releases new VAERS data every Friday. This site is typically updated:

  • Weekly or bi-weekly for recent data
  • Check the available years to see what data is currently loaded
  • During updates, the site may be in maintenance mode temporarily

Medical history included asthma. The patient stated she did take other medication. The patient previously took the first dose of BNT162B2 (PFIZER-BIONTECH COVID-19 VACCINE, Solution for injection), via an unspecified route of administration, on an unknown date (Batch/Lot number was not reported) as single dose for covid-19 immunisation. She had a reaction from the first shot. Patient stated she had a very bad reaction from the second COVID shot. She was on the capsules three 'solid' weeks. She got up because had to get some doggy food and food for the house and whatever, whatever and she had to go to the bank and started getting dizzy, like the world was going round and round and round and round and do not have any that kind of illness ever. It was going round and round. She fell face down on the concrete and have a 6000 Dollar dental bill right now, okay 6000 dollars. Damaged the three front teeth's that had to be replaced. She was so very upset. It was not fair. She never heard of this kind of side effect and the, Pharmacy said well that was really severe. This month has been a nightmare for her. Those events occurred on 12Oct2021 (the next day after vaccination), when she woke up, she could not move. She was on the capsule three weeks. Patient stated, she went and got, she went to an urgent care, she fell and they took X-ray to make sure that she did not break anything in her face. Her knee was all swelled up. It was horrible and her face she had it was all black and blue. Just to make sure that she did not break anything. Especially face. That is 'when she went to' an urgent care. While standing at the toilet my heart began to race and pound in my chest, it made me feel weird so I started to take my pulse and that's the last thing I remember before waking up on the floor. I passed out and when I fell my right leg twisted and got trapped at a weird angle underneath me. I was in alot of pain and extracted myself from the floor and back to the bed. I also had a laceration on my right knee from striking something, presumably the tile edge if the shower. My lower leg/ankle began to bruise and swell so I elevated it and waited for some teammates that were staying in the same hotel to wake up and come help me get to an ER. After receiving XRAYS the doctor confirmed I had spiral fractured my lower distal fibula of my right leg but was also concerned as to why I may have passed out. She ran blood tests and saw I had an elevated D dimer and then ran CT with contrast and discovered a large pulmonary embolism in my right lung. They gave me a "clot buster shot" and put me on blood thinners and several days later I received surgery on my leg resulting in 7 screwes and a cable permanently placed. On follow up about my clot with my PA at the 90 day mark he told me to go off the blood thinners and would not refer me to a hematologist. Over the next year to 18 months I had several more instances of palpitations and two ER visits because I was concerned about another embolism or that I might be having a heart attack. I was referred to a cardiologist but according to them they were unable to find any issues with my heart. More

Shortly after the mother and brother left with the patient the immunization room to the go to sit do... Shortly after the mother and brother left with the patient the immunization room to the go to sit down in the waiting area the patient stated that he felt like he passed out which was witnessed by staff and staff said he felt like he did loose consciousness. The little brother came running to the imms room calling myself and another and we immediately laid the patient flat on the ground and lifted his legs upward. At this time he was already awake again. Mother stated that her son did not hit his head on the ground or furniture since they were able to soften the fall. Patient appeared sweaty and pale. We let him rest a wile on the ground, placed a cold cloth behind his neck, and brought him some cold water he could sip, After about five minutes we slowly let him sit up and eventually have him sit on the chair. Vitals were within normal range and we called another staff to the scene to ensure patient was good to be released. Patients family was given signs and symptoms of when to seek out the ER i.e chest pain, fainting, etc. We encouraged to give him some food tonight and some water to drink. Patient is normally very anxious for needles and today he actually did extremely well. Mother thought that he may kept this all inside and worked himself up too much. More

On 15-MAY-2024, the patient received Kinrix. On 15-MAY-2024, an unknown time after receiving Kinrix, the patient experienced inappropriate age at vaccine administration (Verbatim: vaccine (KINRIX) valid for this patient (two year old) and inappropriate schedule of vaccine administered (Verbatim: intended vaccine was INFANRIX.). The outcome of the inappropriate age at vaccine administration and inappropriate schedule of vaccine administered were not applicable. Shortly after getting the vaccine I started experiencing. So dizziness or feeling as if I might have... Shortly after getting the vaccine I started experiencing. So dizziness or feeling as if I might have some kind of sudden rush of not feeling myself. In November of 2021 I had a seizure like episode after simply standing up from an armchair to go refill my water when I suddenly lost all bodily control frozen place remain conscious but started shaking pretty significantly while not being able to move or talk. The episode went away but then I started having reoccurring instances of such. Generally attributed to sitting down laying down kneeling or squatting down or bending over too long too fast or sometimes just random. I now can catch the sensation and understand I need to slow down or stay in place holding on to something to my best stability of preventing a seizure-like episode. Prior to this I also started experiencing what was diagnosed as facial paresthesia a few months after recovering from COVID-19. pt started getting swollen lymph nodes at the back of the neck. The ear and left side of the neck wa... pt started getting swollen lymph nodes at the back of the neck. The ear and left side of the neck was also swollen. Under the neck was painful. On the 5th she started having fever and chills that lasted 12 hours. On the 6th she developed a rash on the arms, face, stomach, back, and upper legs. On the 7th trying play pickle ball, she became very winded. On the 10the she was winded when playing ball and her right wrist started hurting. It was swollen and painful. On the 11th the left ankle became painful and swollen. Her right knee was so swollen she couldn't bend it past 45 degrees. On the 12th, her back, wrist, and left knee became painful and swollen. Her ankle and knees are back to normal then but her wrist and hands were painful, swollen and started tingling, then became numb that kept her awake. Ibuprofen did not help with pain or swelling. After nine days the pain in the back of her head was finally getting better. She contacted the clinic where she was vaccinated and was told to schedule an appt with a rheumatologist and never to take the MMR vaccine again. If her symptoms do not improve she will follow up with the rheumatologist for treatment. More
