What is VAERS?

VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) is a national early warning system established in 1990 to detect possible safety problems with vaccines. It's co-managed by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

VAERS accepts and analyzes reports of adverse events (possible side effects) after a person has received a vaccination.

Is this data HIPAA compliant?

Yes, absolutely. All VAERS data displayed here is:

  • Publicly available - Published by the CDC/FDA on their official website

My vaccine lot number matches one with deaths/serious events - should I be worried?

Important context:

  • VAERS reports do NOT prove causation - A report means an event occurred after vaccination, but doesn't mean the vaccine caused it
  • Anyone can report - Reports are not verified for medical accuracy before being published
  • Coincidences happen - When millions of people get vaccinated, some will experience unrelated medical events afterward
  • Large lot numbers - Popular vaccines may have hundreds of thousands of doses from one lot number
  • More vaccinations = more reports - Lots used widely will naturally have more reports

What to do:

  • Don't panic - VAERS data requires expert analysis to interpret
  • Talk to your doctor if you have concerns

Can I trust VAERS data?

VAERS is valuable but has limitations:

Strengths:

Bottom line: VAERS is an important tool for safety monitoring, but individual reports should not be used as proof that a vaccine caused harm.

What are "adverse events"?

An adverse event is any undesirable health occurrence that happens after vaccination, including:

  • Common reactions: Sore arm, mild fever, fatigue (usually expected)
  • Serious events: Hospitalization, disability, life-threatening illness, death
  • Coincidental events: Medical conditions that would have occurred anyway

Important: An adverse event doesn't mean the vaccine caused it - only that it occurred after vaccination. Many reported events are coincidental or unrelated.

Why are some lot numbers listed multiple times?

This is normal and expected! A person may receive multiple doses of the same vaccine from the same lot number:

  • COVID vaccines require 2-3 doses
  • HPV, Hepatitis B, and other vaccines have multi-dose schedules
  • Each dose is recorded as a separate entry

Example: Person receives Pfizer COVID dose 1 (lot ABC123) and dose 2 (lot ABC123) - lot ABC123 appears twice in their report.

How often is this data updated?

The CDC/FDA releases new VAERS data every Friday. This site is typically updated:

  • Weekly or bi-weekly for recent data
  • Check the available years to see what data is currently loaded
  • During updates, the site may be in maintenance mode temporarily

Started day after vaccine and lasted for approximately 2 years. Symptoms improved immediately upon self administering white pine needle tea. Symptom 2: Vertigo / chronic sinusitis. Symptoms started day after vaccine and included extreme vertigo. Verito symptoms lessoned over the course of approximately 6 months but persisted / did not clear 100%. Initially I described it as a feeling of dizziness and pressure between the eyes that would come in waves and at its worse roll through to the back of the head inducing nausea. Conducted several tests including comprehensive metabolic panel (8/5/2021), ENT checkup (date unknown ~8/21), MRI brain scan (1/19/2022), and Lyme disease test (1/21/2022) all of which were normal / negative. The feeling of water in the ear has persisted and still present. Self diagnosis includes chronic sinusitis although this was not acknowledged by (or suggest to) healthcare providers at the time of investigation (21-22). Symptoms improve with manually assisted sinus draining. Persistent symptoms include sinus pressure (forehead between eyes) and the feeling of vertigo although appears to be related to sinus pressure rather than other causes of vertigo. Symptoms started the day after the vaccine and have improved, but not 100%. Symptoms impact sleep as they worsen while laying down. Ability to focus is reduced due to distraction from sinus pressure. Treatments tried include long term additional water intake and administration of flonase (neither helped). More

Reaction /Symptoms began around 11/29/24 with rash red splotchy rash on hands, up arm, legs with itc... Visited Student Health Services first week of December 2024 because rash and itching did not go away. Prescribed antihistamine and steroid, Symptoms did not resolve and progressed to all over joint pain (hands, fingers, ankles, knees, wrists, elbows so returned to clinic 12/12/24 and saw Dr, Chief Medical Officer and she said it sounded like serum like sickness from the vaccine and to not continue series. Referred to allergist and told to continue Aleve. 12/19/24 visit to Internal Medicine. Symptoms had somewhat subsided. Dr wrote a waiver to not receive 2nd dose of Hepatitis B vaccine and ordered a complete blood panel and ANA Screen IFA for autoimmune disease. Eosinophils and potassium came back high , ANA panel was normal. Beginning of January 2025 , symptoms returned and continue to this date. Wake up with swollen hands and fingers that remain that way for hours some days. Itching, paresthesia, red splotchy rash on hands, wrists, and sometimes knees, comes and goes. Stiff feeling in hands fingers and ankles. Itchy eyes and flushed hot feeling and face has also occurred. Established with Dr on 1/15/25. Dr ordered complete blood panel and repeat of ANA Screen and scheduled appointment with rheumatologist on 5/9/24. ANA screen done on 2/14/25 came back abnormal. More

She reiterated everything that we have on file. She only wanted a regular flu shot, but stated she was pressured or told that she couldn't and in her words, forced to get a high dose flu shot by the pharmacist on file for this complaint. She then stated immediately after the vaccine that she began to have migraines and that her left arm began to lose function and that her daily life wasn't the same anymore. Doctor was notified ASAP, (redacted) then notified and Manufacturer called as well. They recommended giving it again ASAP. Pt was called and I explained what happened. She came back here and got it again at 1300. VAERS form filled out, (redacted) notified and charted incident in safety net (redacted) also emailed pt information so that patient isn't billed for today's incident involving the 1st one given.
