What is VAERS?

VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) is a national early warning system established in 1990 to detect possible safety problems with vaccines. It's co-managed by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

VAERS accepts and analyzes reports of adverse events (possible side effects) after a person has received a vaccination.

Is this data HIPAA compliant?

Yes, absolutely. All VAERS data displayed here is:

  • Publicly available - Published by the CDC/FDA on their official website

My vaccine lot number matches one with deaths/serious events - should I be worried?

Important context:

  • VAERS reports do NOT prove causation - A report means an event occurred after vaccination, but doesn't mean the vaccine caused it
  • Anyone can report - Reports are not verified for medical accuracy before being published
  • Coincidences happen - When millions of people get vaccinated, some will experience unrelated medical events afterward
  • Large lot numbers - Popular vaccines may have hundreds of thousands of doses from one lot number
  • More vaccinations = more reports - Lots used widely will naturally have more reports

What to do:

  • Don't panic - VAERS data requires expert analysis to interpret

Can I trust VAERS data?

VAERS is valuable but has limitations:

Bottom line: VAERS is an important tool for safety monitoring, but individual reports should not be used as proof that a vaccine caused harm.

What are "adverse events"?

An adverse event is any undesirable health occurrence that happens after vaccination, including:

  • Common reactions: Sore arm, mild fever, fatigue (usually expected)
  • Serious events: Hospitalization, disability, life-threatening illness, death
  • Coincidental events: Medical conditions that would have occurred anyway

Important: An adverse event doesn't mean the vaccine caused it - only that it occurred after vaccination. Many reported events are coincidental or unrelated.

Why are some lot numbers listed multiple times?

This is normal and expected! A person may receive multiple doses of the same vaccine from the same lot number:

  • COVID vaccines require 2-3 doses
  • HPV, Hepatitis B, and other vaccines have multi-dose schedules
  • Each dose is recorded as a separate entry

Example: Person receives Pfizer COVID dose 1 (lot ABC123) and dose 2 (lot ABC123) - lot ABC123 appears twice in their report.

How often is this data updated?

The CDC/FDA releases new VAERS data every Friday. This site is typically updated:

  • Weekly or bi-weekly for recent data
  • Check the available years to see what data is currently loaded
  • During updates, the site may be in maintenance mode temporarily

I woke up on the ground where I was being assessed by an EMT who was off duty piking up a prescription for his son. BP was checked while I was on the floor and was elevated (SBP>140 and DBP>90). Heart rate was also elevated (>120). EMTs were called where vitals were as normal as they could be under the circumstance (BP and HR still elevated per ECG). After sitting for almost 25 minutes I had someone pick me up to drive me home as I did not feel comfortable driving but not ill enough to deem a hospital visit. The morning of 10/17/25. I felt Nauseous, chest discomfort, headache, back pain, and occasionally unbalanced on my feet. Now my medical history includes heart & Lung disease, and I've had two previous hospitalization due to low sodium in blood (Hyponetremia). My sodium levels two weeks ago were 134-135 or so. And have been that way for at least three months or more. I went to my local ER the next day (10/18/25) (Medical Center. Because the symptoms had not subsided, and seemed to get worse. I was seen by Dr. and told my sodium level was 126 which is quite low compared to normal range of mid 130's where I was the previous 3 months. Since I've been hospitalized before with this diagnosis I know what the first line of treatment is. (Fluid restriction, furosemide, and sodium chloride tablets) so at my request Dr. discharged me to start that treatment regimen, and to notify my Nephrologist Dr. which I have done an he agreed with the treatment, and ordered new bloodwork in two weeks. I still have slightly worse shortness of breath, than I had before the vaccination, and have had some mild fatigue and muscle aches & weakness, different from what I've experienced before due to my lung disease. I'm convinced that the Flu & Covid vaccines had something to do with how I've felt (Symptoms) since the 10/16/25 vaccination date. 9 days post injection, left thigh formed hard, reddened, and swollen area around injection site. Ove... 9 days post injection, left thigh formed hard, reddened, and swollen area around injection site. Over the course of 8 ours it more than doubled in size, became painful to the touch and harder. She had a low grade fever of 100.2 so with her history of febrile seizures we took her to urgent care to be examined. At Urgent Care, the physician who saw her said her thigh looked to have an abscess and needed an ultrasound to confirm and probably needed to be drained. We then went to the emergency room at another hospital. We waited for 5 hours to be seen and was told by the physician that it was probably an abscess caused by the vaccine but could not offer the ultrasound for at least another 6 hours, and she said it was unlikely it needed to be drained, so they sent us home with antibiotics (Bactrim). The abscess took 3-4 weeks to fully resolve and she had fevers on and off during that time causing one febrile seizure. More

Patient got vaccine 1500 on Friday , by the next afternoon family noted intense redness , induration... Patient got vaccine 1500 on Friday , by the next afternoon family noted intense redness , induration , warm extending from right below his elbow to the upper shoulder. Patient had mild pain to palpation but could still use arm. Low grade fever of 100.4 F at home . Due to pain and extensive swelling patient was admitted to Hospital for monitoring and remained afebrile he was treated for potential cellulitis due to slightly higher WBC count and neutrophil shift and slightly elevated CRP of 6. ER gave Vancomycin and ancef and pain responded to tylenol. Pediatric team transitioned him to oral Clindamycin but with the stable appearance , lack of fever and impressive and rapid induration there was clinic suspicion of hypersensitivity reaction. Patient given 3 day Prednisone course and will complete clindamycin for 5- 7 days as a precautions. Another potential thought is allergic reaction to adhesive from bandage due to blistering that developed right at the ridge of where the bandage was applied, a sibling also has allergy to adhesive. More

According to the mother, the patient got to the front of the isle, got light-headed and fell with back against the isle. A customer ran back to the pharmacy to get help. When I reached the patient, another customer and store manager were calling 911. I immediately helped patient to floor and onto their side. The patient was awake and responsive. She knew where she was, who she was, what had happended and who her mom was. Medical assistence arrived within 5 minutes and assisted the patient. Vitals were good. Patient was warm. EMS aided mother and patient. To my knowledge patient once stable went home with her mother. Patient's mother stated that she had no prior history of fainting with vaccines, but she did have a history of fainting with pain. More
